Top 5: Worrying Premier League transfers

Moyes might be getting desperate.
Moyes might be getting desperate..

Ok, there is barely over a week to go until the transfer window closes and we are yet to see a genuinely major, important transfer deal being done by the Premier League's top clubs - time to panic, right?

Wrong! Bosses in the English top flight need to take a breath if they are beginning to feel a bit like pressured into doing something, anything to try and add extra options to struggling squads.

Yep, our furst though was David Moyes, too. The Manchester United manager has had a pretty miserable start to his succession of Sir Alex Ferguson and it only got worse on Sunday when they were easily beaten by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, leaving them 14 points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal in the defence of their title.

Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney were injured and, just like that, the Old Trafford club looked pretty toothless against one of the league's better teams.

It is quite a turnaround from a squad under Ferguson last season that found a way to win and took the title quite comfortably in the end.

Moyes desperately needs to make improvements to the squad and at least a couple of them should be done this month, if the Scot has any chance of at least salvaging Champions League qualification.

He is not the only one to be getting a bit hot under the collar with regards to certain areas in their squads, and they all need to be mindful to avoid making any rash decisions over transfers.

GMS have seen on a few occasions this current window certain Premier League clubs being linked with substandard, or at least poorly matched, players with the motivation being that of filling a worryingly bare are in the side.

We have had a quick look around and picked out five potential transfers that need to be warned against - click to start the slideshow and see the names...
