The January transfer window is drawing to a close, and soon the mad dash will begin before the real action that is the rest of the season starts.

The window as ever has been filled with rumours and half-truths but very little action - but all that could soon change.

It's an interesting facet of this window that many of the big clubs are chasing the same thing - a prolific striker.

Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham all need a new striker, while Manchester United could probably do with an extra body in attack given Robin van Persie's injury problems and the fact Wayne Rooney could well run down his contract and leave for nothing - unless he's sold in the summer.

The goal-scoring forward is a precious commodity and they always command the highest fees - look at Fernando Torres in 2011 - but if you dig around there may well be some value on offer, either in this window or in the summer when clubs prefer to do their business.

Because we're generous souls, we've done a bit of work on behalf of the Premier League and found the players who have scored plenty of goals this season but come with either ridiculously low price tags or simply represent good value.
