European football is currently blessed with a whole host of potent playmakers, driving their sides forward by producing precision passes where it matters most, in the final third.

Barcelona midfield linchpins Xavi and Andres Iniesta have long been deservedly held in high regard as among Europe's most trusted sources of chances created, but this season their efforts have fallen well short of a place in this particular countdown.

GMS has used the comprehensive stats database service Squawka to examine which player has laid on the most chances for team-mates across Europe's top five domestic leagues, with superstars plying their trade in England, France, Spain, Germany and Italy all included.

When key passes and assists are added together a quite startling list of omissions fail to make the cut in our top 10 feature, with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Franck Ribery and Cesc Fabregas all missing out.
