Inter Milan have joined Manchester United and Arsenal in the race to sign highly-rated FC Basel defender Fabian Schar, reports talkSPORT.
The 22-year-old is being coveted by a host of major European clubs, following a series of impressive performances at St. Jakob-Park over the past couple of years.
Schar played an instrumental part in Basel's Swiss Super League title success in 2012/13, and the Switzerland international's stock has continued to rise this season.
Red Devils boss David Moyes has been credited with an interest in bringing the £5million-rated star to Old Trafford, while Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is also believed to be monitoring the situation closely.
However, Manchester United and the Gunners will face competition for Schar's signature from Inter, after Walter Mazzarri identified him as a viable replacement for Borussia Dortmund-bound Andrea Ranocchia.
Basel are keen to keep the player - who is under contract until the summer of 2015 - until the end of the current campaign, but might struggle to retain his services if the Serie 'A' giants make an approach, after Schar's agent last month intimated he'd be interested in a move to San Siro.
