Manchester United defender Fabio da Silva looks set for a loan switch to Bundesliga outfit Freiburg, reports The Guardian

The Brazilian full-back has struggled for opportunities at Old Trafford this season under David Moyes and now looks likely to depart the Theatre of Dreams for the short term.

Fabio is currently behind the likes of Patrice Evra and Alex Buttner in the pecking order at United and, despite his twin brother Rafael playing a key role for the side, Fabio has played just three times this season.

If the Manchester United ace does complete a move to the German outfit then he will hope to improve the side after a disappointing campaign so far. Freiburg currently sit in 16th place in the Bundesliga and will be desperate to remain in Germany's elite division.

With Fabio on his way out, Manchester United's immediate attention will turn their Capital One Cup semi-final second-leg clash with Sunderland tomorrow night.

Manchester United will be hoping to overturn the current 2-1 deficit at Old Trafford as they look to reach the Wembley final.
