Whilst snow was ruining the day of most New Yorker's, the NHL decided to make the most of it as they hosted an impromptu pick up game in a Manhattan park.

Former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason was among those who took part in the game at Bryant Park which involved former New York area players and youth teams.

The NHL was celebrating the Stadium Series coming to the city later this month as Yankee Stadium will host two games of the series involving New York teams at the baseball venue.

There was little announcement of the game in Bryant Park today, save a few mentions of social media and yet still some hardy fans made it out to see some famous faces duke it out in their backyard- literally.

“I’m like a kid today. I don’t know who’s the bigger kid, me or the little guys,” said Boomer Esiason, the former New York Jet turned WFAN radio host, wearing his Number seven on a Rangers jersey.

So who won the game? Well the NHL was the real winner here hosting a family event, with good fun and (for once) no fights.

Roll on the Stadium Series.
