Manchester United will go on a transfer spending spree after sealing a deal for Chelsea's Juan Mata, reports the Daily Mirror.
The Spanish playmaker is believed to be close to agreeing a deal to move to Old Trafford for a fee of around £40m but David Moyes won't stop there.
In a bid to turn Manchester United's season around, Moyes will then launch a £20m move for Newcastle's Yohan Cabaye, believing the offer will be too tempting for the Toon Army to resist.
Moyes is also thought to be considering a move for Bayern Munich defender Dante, with the Mirror reporting that £7m will be enough to secure his signature from the Allianz Arena.
However, Moyes will wait to secure his main priority before moving for any other player. Mata is is thought to be his main target as United look to take advantage of Chelsea's dramatic U-turn.
Jose Mourinho had been unwilling to see Mata, who is popular with Chelsea fans, leave Stamford Bridge for a fellow rival but reports suggest that they have had a change of heart after Manchester United showed a willingness to smash their transfer record.
Although Manchester United are out of contention for the Premier League title, the spending spree has been inspired by fears that there is a genuine possibility of missing out on a top four place.
That would mean no Champions League football at Old Trafford for the first time in 19 years.
Making January additions would lay the groundwork for an even busier summer with Moyes' shortlist thought to contain the likes of Ilkay Gundogan, Lucas Moura, Arturo Vidal, Koke and Claudio Marchisio.
