Chelsea still chasing £30m-rated Man United target

Chelsea are facing a race against time to sign Manchester United target Luke Shaw before the close of the transfer window next week, reports the Daily Star.

The Southampton left-back - who has been valued at £30million - has been the subject of intense transfer speculation, with constant rumours linking him with a move away from St Mary's this month.

Red Devils boss David Moyes has been credited with an interest in bringing Shaw to Old Trafford, as he continues his search for a long-term successor for Patrice Evra.

However, Manchester United are yet to lodge an official bid, with Chelsea so far the only club to have made a firm offer for the England U21 international.

Jose Mourinho offered Saints £15million plus Ryan Bertrand, only to see the proposal knocked back by the south coast club.

Southampton owner Katharina Liebherr issued a statement to the fans on Tuesday night, reiterating her stance that no key players will be sold in January.

Now there are concerns in the Chelsea camp that they won't have enough time to negotiate a deal for Shaw, before deadline day next Friday, meaning they'll have to wait until the summer before returning with another bid.
