Manchester United's hopes of bringing Bayern Munich star Dante to Old Trafford appear to be over after the player's agent insisted the defender won't be departing the German outfit in this transfer window, reports the Express.
However, despite ruling out a move for Dante, his agent, Marcus Marin, revealed it would be "interesting" if the Red Devils were interested in the player's services.
Dante has played a key role at the Bavarians in recent time and, with the Red Devils looking to improve their back-line, the Brazilian star could become a major asset at the Theatre of Dreams.
Manchester United boss David Moyes has been tipped to spend in this January transfer window and could yet bring additions to the club before the end of the month.
However, it remains to be seen as to whether Dante could still join the Premier League champions.
Dante's agent has certainly given mixed messages on his clients future, despite initially insisting there's no chance his client leaving.
When speaking to reporters, Marin said: "There is no way that is going to happen.
"He is not going to leave Bayern in the window. At the moment, Bayern are the only people we have spoken to anyway because we are talking over a new contract."
"We are still waiting for an answer from them and although things happen very quickly in football, until that situation changes, we cannot speak to anyone else anyway.
"Manchester United followed him two years ago," Marin added. "We were in talks with them, but then he ended up at Bayern.
"They are a very good club - and a very big club - so it would be interesting if they were interested in Dante, although I stress we have not spoken to anyone."
