Tottenham have joined Manchester United in the race to sign Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio, according to the Times.
The Red Devils have been linked with Marchisio on several occasions in the past and are said to be keen on bringing the Italian international to Old Trafford before the end of the month.
It is thought the Scotsman is likely to make a move for him in the summer despite keen interest being shown by Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
It is thought that part of the deal would include a swap deal offloading a few Tottenham players including one which could be the £9million summer signing, Etienne Capoue, who has dropped far down the pecking order, dropping behind 19-year-old graduate Nabil Bentaleb.
Capoue has made it clear that he seeks first team football and wants to leave White Hart Lane while the players representative stated that Tottenham are looking for absurd money for the player.
It has been suggested that record signing Erik Lamela could go on loan to Juventus after not proving his price tag. This would put Tottenham in a much better position to buy a midfielder off of the club.
Marchisio can play in a similar position to Lamela, wide on the left, despite traditionally being a central midfielder.
