One of the biggest stars of TNA has left the promotion and joined rivals Ring of Honor this week.
AJ Styles has been the break out star of TNA for the past decade and after negotiations regarding a new contract broke down the 36-year-old opted to leave, exploring new avenues including the Japanese circuit and WWE.
AJ, real name Allen Jones admitted that he wanted to make the move to WWE but he was never in talks with them, with the wrestling's flagship promotion preferring to develop talent at their new performance centre.
Styles was a rumoured name for the up coming Royal Rumble but now it seems he has opted to join Ring of Hono, even though the door at TNA remains open if he ever wanted to return.
TNA have released a number of talents over the past few months including former WWE superstars Jeff Hardy and Victoria, with money problems and audience members at the forefront of their minds.
Styles has been a main eventer in the promotion for years and all the autumn story lines were build around him as it looked like he would sign a new contract, but even he admitted that leaving came as a shock.
The two-time TNA world heavyweight champion insists that he did what he thought was best for his family at the time and when TNA failed to make a decision, he knew he had to make money from somewhere.
Styles returned to Ring of Honor last week and botched his finishing move in his first match, injuring opponent Roderick Strong.
