Liverpool are in advanced talks with FC Basel over the potential signing of Mohamed Salah, reports the Metro

Brendan Rodgers' side have been in negotiations with the Swiss side for the past couple of weeks and they now appear to be edging closer to a deal for the player's signature.

The 21-year-old has caught the attention of some of Europe's top clubs in recent times, with the likes of Chelsea and La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid reportedly interested in the winger.

However, Liverpool are the team in pole position for the star's signature and hope a bid of £10 million will lure him away from Basel.

£10m could be enough for Liverpool to bring Salah to Anfield, despite the star being valued at £12m by his club.

The potential signing of Salah will act as a major boost for Brendan Rodgers as he looks to secure Champions League qualification for Liverpool this season.
