It is eight years to the day since LA Lakers icon Kobe Bryant posted the second most prolific individual game in the esteemed history of the NBA with a stunning 81 points against Toronto Raptors.
Bryant made 28 field goals, seven three-pointers and 18 free-throws in a quite breathtaking display of solo brilliance as he led the Lakers to a win by a margin of 122-104 and broke the monopoly enjoyed by Wilt Chamberlain.
Chamberlain held the record for all four of the top point-scoring performances in the NBA annals until Bryant's monumental effort, with the latter standing alone as the only player to have ever finished in the 80s.
He does, however, rank behind Chamberlain's record of exactly 100 points - scored for the Philadelphia Warriors against the New York Knicks in 1962 - which remains a landmark unlikely to ever be surpassed.
