It was announced today that the Miami Marlins' president David Samson would be one of the 'celebrities' taking part in this years 'Survivor' series on CBS.

Help manage your struggling MLB franchise, or get a tan on a tropical island for two months?

The decision was an easy one it seems for Marlins' Samson.

With the series reportedly filmed during July and August of 2013 this means the president would have missed the July 31 trade deadline as well as a large number of his teams games.

Oh well, it's not like that might be a useful time to have a team president around.

As ftw.usatoday.com notes, this time frame also covered the resignation of Tino Martinez after player abuse allegations. Again perhaps something the team president should have been dealing with.

Samson has already come in for criticism in the past, most notably from CBS sports reporter Jeff Passan, and this latest misdemeanour isn't likely to earn him many new supporters.

The Marlins finished the 2013 season with a 62-100 record, posting just 8 wins in August when Samson is reported to have been off duty.

What do you think? Did you notice his September tan?
