Manchester United star's penalty hits fan in face

Published Add your comment

Manchester United supporters were made to endure more misery on Wednesday evening, when their beleaguered team was beaten on penalties in the Capital One Cup semi-finals by Premier League strugglers Sunderland.

However, there was one particular supporter whose night was especially terrible: the man who was hit in the face by Phil Jones' horrendous penalty.

Jones stepped up and took his spot-kick like a man who had never kicked a football before in his life - and the supporter in the section behind the goal took the ball smack bang in his face.

Why didn't he react quicker? He was following the ball all the way, after all.

Did he want to be hit in the face? Was the pain of Jones's penalty simply too much to bear?

Regardless of the reasons, we can all agree it's pretty funny.
