Southampton have suspended record signing Dani Osvaldo for two weeks following a training ground incident.
The Saints released the following statement: "The club has taken swift and proper action for what it considers a breach of the conduct expected of its players."
Southampton felt that Osvaldo's actions had fallen below the standards they expect from their players, but have not released any more details regarding the matter.
Osvaldo has a bit of a reputation as a trouble maker after twice being in trouble for punching team-mates. At Bologna he punched team-mate Nicola Mingazzini in a pre-season training session and was then fined and suspended for hitting Erik Lamela whilst playing for Serie A side Roma.
He was also suspended back in January after the touchline confrontation he played a part in following Newcastle's draw with the Saints.
The club broke their transfer record fee signing Osvaldo for £15m in the summer, and he will now miss Southampton's fourth round FA Cup clash with Yeovil Town as well as their mid-week clash against Arsenal and their trip to Fulham next weekend.
