Juan Mata looks set to join Manchester United, but do the Red Devils really need him?

Many fans will believe the Premier League champions do need the Spaniard, however Mata plays in the same position that Wayne Rooney and Shinji Kagawa occupy.

Mata arrived at Chelsea in 2011 and immediately he was an instant success. Scoring on his debut was just the beginning to a fantastic season, he was voted Chelsea’s Player of the Season that year and the following one, too.

He’s been a fan favourite ever since he joined but since Jose Mourinho returned to the club, the 'Special One' made it pretty clear from day one that Brazilian ace Oscar was his number 10.

Mata’s move was bound to happen but joining Manchester United might not be the best move for him.

However, Rooney, Mata and Robin van Persie could make a very dangerous trio but it all comes down to just how Mata settles into the club. United need Mata to star at Old Trafford or their struggles will only continue.
