Boston Celtics star to be used with caution

Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo missed his side's overtime win against the Washington Wizards as he is being treated with care.

The 27-year-old was sidelined for just shy of a year following an ACL injury he picked up last season.

Rondo returned to action last Friday against the Miami Heat - a game in which the Boston Celtics lost 93-86 at the American Airlines Arena.

The NBA star played 26 minutes of his side's game against the Miami Heat as Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens is wary of overusing Rondo so soon after he has returned from injury.

"This is Rondo's preseason right now," said Stevens.

"[It's] not fair to him that it happens in the middle of January."

Rondo is expected to feature against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night at the TD Garden Arena.

Stevens will be hoping Rondo can give the Celtics the lift they need to work their way up the Eastern Conference standings.

The Celtics are currently fourth from bottom in the Eastern Conference and four places away from the playoffs.
