Wigan Athletic have completed the signing of Josh McEachran from Chelsea for the rest of the season.

The England under 21 international was the target of many Championship clubs before The Lactics' completed the signing earlier today with Wigan manager Uwe Rosler and also targeted McEachran's teammate Patrick Bamford before his recent switch to Derby.

McEachran began his career at Chelsea, joining the academy in 2001 and coming up through the ranks to make his senior debut in 2010, but since then the 20-year-old has been sent out on loan to both Swansea and Middlesbrough before he spent the first half of the campaign at Watford, making seven appearances for the Championship side.

The midfielder has made just 11 appearances for his parent club in almost four years and now joins a Wigan side comfortable in the top half of the table as they head into games against promotion chasing Middlesbrough and strugglers Charlton in the next week.
