As rumours of Juan Mata's prospective transfer from Chelsea to Manchester United continue to gather pace, many are beginning to question Jose Mourinho's mindset, after appearing to sanction a deal that will undoubtedly strengthen one of his biggest Premier League rivals.

Irrespective of the £37million that the west London club stands to earn from the sale, the bottom line is that the Spain international is a world-class talent, who will significantly improve David Moyes's Old Trafford squad.

Currently devoid of any real creativity, Mata's arrival will inject some much needed confidence, to a side that is struggling in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.

The increasing dismay of Chelsea fans, proves just how peculiar the probable departure of Stamford Bridge's two-time Player of the Year will be, even in light of the former Valencia man's fall, down the first-team pecking order this season.

Mata's statistics add more weight to the opinion, with only one player having provided more assists in the Premier League, since he joined the Blues from La Liga in the summer of 2011.

Click through the tabs - above or below - for a full breakdown of the top 10 assist makers in England's top-flight since the start of 2011/12, and leave a suggestion with any players you think could break into the list in the next couple of seasons.
