Liverpool midfielder Lucas has insisted that he will return to action within a few weeks, reports The Metro

It had previously been reported that the Brazilian ace would be out of action for up to two months, however the midfielder has now quashed those rumours as he's targeting a return within the next few weeks.

Lucas picked up a knee injury in Liverpool's 2-2 draw with Aston Villa this past weekend after coming on as a second half substitute and the star has admitted he's relieved to only be out for weeks.

The midfielder Tweeted: "I would like to let you know that my injury isn’t serious and I will be back in a few weeks. Thanks #relieved #thedreamstillalive."

This will come as a major  boost to Liverpool as they go in search of success this season. The Reds currently sit in fourth place in the Premier League and are desperate to bring Champions League football back to Anfield.

However, the midfielder will miss two of Liverpool's crunch clashes in the next few weeks. It's expected that he will miss the Merseyside derby with Everton on Tuesday and will also be unavailable for Liverpool's clash with Arsenal on February 8.

Liverpool's immediate attention will turn to their FA Cup clash with Bournemouth this weekend as they look to progress to the fifth round of the competition.
