6. Dani Osvaldo

Southampton's club-record signing Dani Osvaldo was always a gamble to some degree at a fee of £15m last summer, despite Italian international recognition and a strong working relationship with manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Osvaldo's rap sheet includes fierce public arguments with coaches at Roma and a suspension from the Serie A giants for striking Erik Lamela, a feat he managed to repeat just shy of six months into his spell with Saints earlier today.

The 28-year-old is already serving a three-match ban for a fracas on the bench during Southampton's clash with Newcastle last month, but has been slapped with a two-week ban by furious Saints chiefs for a serious breach of conduct after headbutting and punching club colleague Jose Fonte in training this week.
