Manchester United's record acquisition of Juan Mata from Chelsea will be followed by further 'good news' before the close of the transfer window later this month, the club's former striker Michael Owen has hinted.
The Premier League champions are closing in on the signing of Mata having agreed a £37 million deal for his signature, and the Spain international is expected in Manchester on Friday to undergo a medical.
Mata's arrival will represent the highest fee Manchester United have paid to recruit player, surpassing the £30.75 million outlaid to secure Dimitar Berbatov from Tottenham in the summer transfer window of 2008.
The dealings may not stop there, however, with Owen tweeting on Friday morning that a source has informed him there will be further news to crow about for buoyant Manchester United supporters.
Owen posted: "So, Juan Mata is on the verge of a move to United. A little dickie bird tells me there is more good news for United fans coming soon! #tease."
The nature of the information Owen claims to have is unknown, but Manchester United are reported to have entered into negotiations to sign Arturo Vidal from Juventus.
This would certainly be a coup indeed for David Moyes, with the Chilean having scored 15 goals from midfield for the Serie A champions.
