Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed Juan Mata's move to Manchester United will be finalised sooner rather than later.
After being heavily linked with a move to Manchester United Juan Mata is expected to be the signing which will break the clubs transfer record.
With only a medical needing to be completed, all that is to be confirmed are the final touches and Mata's move is expected to be completed within the next couple of days.
"Things are going in a good direction. We allowed Juan to travel and have a medical and I think sooner rather than later things will be finalised," were Mourinho's words at his Friday press conference.
The London club have reportedly agreed a £37 million deal for the 25 year old attacking midfielder.
Responding to the criticism of the sale from some supporters, he said: "If the fans are sad that Juan is leaving, I will say that we are also sad. No one is jumping around the place."
It is reported that, subject to a medical, Mata's replacement will be Mohamed Salah after already having agreed personal terms and a fee with Basel.
Due to the fact that he is a non-EC player he cannot come to Chelsea to have his medical but Chelsea medical staff will have to travel to Switzerland increasing the complications of the deal.
