This is why you should always concentrate in sport.

People casually looking over college hockey results in recent weeks might have noticed Denver University beat Utah State in overtime courtesy of a goal in the final 15 seconds of the game.

This might not seem too unusual, after all hockey games can often be tight affairs.

But a video has now emerged explaining the reason for this loss.

In the final seconds of the game, and with the puck up the other end of the ice, Utah State goalie Keegan McHenry had taken his own personal timeout to go and catch up with some friends on the side of the rink.

Unfortunately for him, he didn't anticipate a loose puck flying 200 feet into his unguarded net, while he caught up on the latest gossip.

In fairness to the college student he is taking the embarrassing act fairly well, tweeting:

"Hey @espn looks like I'll finally get on your show. #NotTop10"

I wonder if his teammates were so positive?
