Manchester United manager David Moyes has met Juan Mata at the club's Aon Training Complex this afternoon.

Mata flew to Manchester via helicopter, and will now undergo a medical before officially completing his £37m transfer from Chelsea.

The Spain international, 25, will become the most expensive signing in Manchester United's history – and should be eligible to make his debut for the reigning Premier League champions against Cardiff City on Tuesday.

The arrival of Mata comes as a timely boost to the beleaguered Manchester United, who find themselves 14 points off league-leaders Arsenal and six points behind fourth-placed Liverpool following last Sunday's 3-1 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Mata's new teammates have welcomed the diminutive playmaker, with striker Robin van Persie tweeting: "Welcome Juan Mata. See you [on] Tuesday".

Rio Ferdinand added: "Welcome to my amigo @juanmata10 ! Hoping you enjoy ya time here and help continue the success at this club #mufc"

While Mata's compatriot David de Gea tweeted: "Welcome to my brother @juanmata10," before joking, "just one thing....Not the best clothes!!"
