Manchester United youngster Jesse Lingard could be set for a return to Championship side Birmingham City after Blues manager Lee Clark admitted he wants to sign the forward on loan for the remainder of the season.

Lingard impressed during his recent loan spell at St Andrews, where he scored six goals in 13 starts in England's second tier, including four on his debut.

He returned to the Premier League champions at the start of the month after his previous deal had expired, however Clark is keen on securing the services of the United forward for the remainder of the season.

"I am still in conversation with David Moyes and his staff about Jesse," Clark said to the Birmingham Mail.

"That isn't completely dead," he added.

Having impressed during United's pre-season, Lingard has been tipped for a promising career at Old Trafford as he remains on the fringes of David Moyes' first-team plans.

Yet it remains to be seen whether or not he has a part to play in United's push for Champions League qualification, or if Moyes will allow him to gain more competitive experience with Birmingham for the second half of the domestic campaign.
