Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has dismissed reports that they are set to sign Schalke star Julian Draxler, claiming rumors of a £37 million deal are "an illusion".
The Gunners continue to be linked with the German forward, with reports suggesting they were close to sealing a big-money transfer for the 20-year-old.
However, talking after his side's 4-0 victory over Coventry in the FA Cup fourth round, Wenger quashed such speculation, insisting he has no need to sign the German international.
"That is an illusion. There is nothing happening, honestly no," Wenger said. "We don't need to take players on the flanks - we have 17 players on the flanks."
It was another German who helped Arsenal on their way to victory over Coventry last night, as Lukas Poldolski grabbed two goals in a comfortable victory over the League One side at the Emirates.
Further goals from Santi Cazorla and Olivier Giroud ensured Arsenal made it into the hat for the fifth round, as Wenger continues to chase trophies in three competitions.
With many suggesting the Arsenal boss needs to strengthen his side before the transfer window shuts, it remains to be seen if a deal for Draxler is in the offing.
