£85 million is a lot of money to pay for a player who hasn’t won a trophy and more importantly hasn’t won an individual trophy like the FIFA Ballon D’or or the UEFA Best player in Europe award.
However Gareth Bale has won the PFA young player on two occasions and the PFA player of the year as well.
Bale is now the world’s most expensive player and many wonder is he worth all the money, based on his final season with Tottenham Hotspur you might say he is; in this season he was Spurs’ main man.
Spurs were basically a one man team and Bale was a key contributor to their great season which sadly didn’t land them Champions League Football.
Everyone knew that the move from Spurs to Real Madrid was inevitable even though Daniel Levy, the Tottenham Chairman, tried his best to keep Bale, but Levy managed to get Madrid to fork out £85 million on the Welsh midfielder.
Is he overrated? Some might say yes considering he’s not the most accomplished player in the world, but in terms of potential he could be the best in the world in a few years.
Gareth Bale is a fantastic player but is he overrated or over price - in truth it’s both, there’s no way that he’s worth all the much and the fact Madrid spent all that much proves he’s overrated but along with that the price tag proves he’s overpriced but maybe in a few years he could justify he’s price.
