Mata is now Man Utd's most expensive player.

Premier League: Most expensive transfer XI (1)

Published 1 Comments

The world of football (or at least, Premier League football) has been awash with the news that Juan Mata has joined Manchester United from Chelsea in a deal believed to be worth £37 million.

That transfer fee means that the Spaniard is now the Red Devils' most expensive player ever, surpassing Dimitar Berbatov, who cost them around £30 million in 2008.

Mata's price tag got us thinking about the most expensive Premier League transfers ever - but everyone knows who's on that list, right?

So we thought we'd take a look at the most expensive Premier League team ever - full of players who have moved clubs for the biggest fees in each position.

It's worth noting at this point that the team varies depending on what formation is being used - we've gone for a 4-2-3-1 and where possible have put players in the positions they would normally play in.
