Rugby League legend Jamie Peacock has announced he has signed a new two-year contract with the Leeds Rhinos, after the club confirmed on their official website.

This deal will also trigger the end of Peacock's illustrious career in the game, with the former Great Britain and England captain having played in Super League for the last 16 seasons.

"I am pleased to have agreed a new contract." Peacock said. "I still have a lot of goals I want to achieve in the next two years."

The former Bradford Bulls prop was named the Rhinos' Player of the Season last year as they reached the semi-finals of the competition, having won it the last three years previous. In total, Peacock has won eight Super League titles.

Head coach Brian McDermott said on the new contract: "The fact he has set a timetable for the end of his career will only drive him on and I know he will be looking to go out at the very top of the game."

The Super League season begins for the Leeds Rhinos on Sunday 16 February, travelling to Hull KR.
