Michael Essien is the latest name out of the door at Stamford Bridge, joining AC Milan just two days after Juan Mata signed for Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho has added Mohamad Salah to his squad though, and ‘the special one’ believes the Egyptian international provides the Blues with another good option going forward.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez must feel like he’s landed a top target, after England full-back Leighton Baines signed a new contract at Goodison Park.

The 29-year-old had been linked with a move to Manchester United, but will not be joining old boss David Moyes at Old Trafford.

The FA Cup fifth round draw has thrown up some massive ties following the weekend’s action, with Manchester City hosting Chelsea in the pick of the fixtures.

And finally, in tennis, Stanislas Wawrinka is the newest name on the list of Grand Slam winners after the Swiss star beat Rafael Nadal in Austalia.

The 28-year-old moves up to number three in the world rankings with the victory, and becomes the first man since Juan Martin Del Potro in 2009 to break the top four’s dominance at the Majors.
