Manchester United's hopes of landing Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal look to be over after the Chilean international confirmed he will be staying in Italy.

The 26-year-old has been in superb form this season, and has helped Juventus to the summit of Serie A.

Reports have suggested that Manchester United were preparing to continue their January spending by launching a raid for the dynamic midfielder.

The Red Devils were also said to be looking at the possibility of bringing former midfielder Paul Pogba back to Old Trafford at the same time.

However Vidal has now ruled out a switch to Manchester United, by pledging his future to the Old Lady.

"Will I leave? No, I will definitely stay in Turin," the midfielder told Rai Sport.

Manchester United were seemingly barking up the right tree by targeting Vidal after he claimed last week that he was the 'best midfielder in the world' in his position.

While the reigning Premier League champions look likely to miss out on Vidal, they did shatter their transfer record to land Juan Mata from Chelsea over the weekend.

The Spaniard, who at £37 million is now Manchester United's most expensive player ever, is likely to make his debut against Cardiff City this evening.
