As Everton prepare to face Liverpool in the Merseyside derby, leading bookmaker Betfair say that the blue half of the city have greater faith in their team rather than the red side.
The Betfair Belief Barometer, which is based on Cash Out data from the season so far, shows the Everton fans have more faith in closing out results than Liverpool fans.
More than 20,000 Liverpool fans - or nearly half of Anfield, have 'Cashed Out' on their team before the match had finished. In comparison, around 16,000 Everton fans had done the same.
When you look at the defensive stats of both teams it's easy to understand why the blue side of Merseyside have more confidence. Roberto Martinez's men have conceded 20 goals in 22 games, while Brendan Rodgers' side have shipped 28 goals in the same amount of games.
Betfair Spokesman Barry Orr said in a press release to GiveMeSport: "With Everton taking on Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday night, their team will need the fans to be the 12th man. Our cash out data shows that so far this season they've done their team proud, so there's no reason why they won't continue to show this support on Tuesday."
Betfair's Cash Out product allows the customer who has placed bets on a team the chance to take a reduced amount of their winnings before the game has finished - a true test of a fan's nerve and to see if they have the belief that their team can see out a result.
