Overnight, the Daily Mirrorreported that Newcastle and Paris Saint Germain have agreed a fee for the services of Yohan Cabaye. But who could replace him at St James' Park? I take a look at three possible candidates.

Lewis Holtby - Tottenham Hotspur

Holtby was signed by then-manager Andre Villas-Boas in the last January transfer window but has struggled to hold down a place in the Spurs starting line-up.

The energetic German has been most impressive in Spurs' Europa League campaign as the north London side won all six group matches.

A move to Newcastle could also be made likely with the fact that new manager Tim Sherwood is trying to trim down his squad.

Oliver Torres - Atletico Madrid

This Spanish under-21 international is destined for big things despite only playing 13 games for the Atletico first team.

The tricky playmaker is only 19 and is the next on the production line from Spain's talent machine.

If Alan Pardew was to move for Torres, it would be seen as a major gamble considering both his age and inexperience, but anything is possible come deadline day.

Remy Cabella - Montpellier

Pardew could once again turn to another Frenchman in the form of Cabella. Cabella has scored six goals in 20 games in Ligue 1 this season.

It is thought that his excellent dribbling and close control has brought him to the attention of the Newcastle scouts, with likenesses being made to Hatem Ben Arfa.

The former French under-21 international could be persuaded by the impact of fellow countrymen Cabaye, Ben Arfa and Yoan Gouffran as he looks to make a late call for the World Cup in Brazil.
