Detroit Red Wings dealt double injury blow

The Detroit Red Wings have been dealt a double injury blow ahead of their clash with the Philadelphia Flyers tomorrow, reports ESPN

The Red Wings will be without their captain Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk as the pair won't be making the trip to Philadelphia.

This will come as a blow to the Wings who will be desperate to secure victory over the Flyers after losing to the Panthers 5-4 in their last fixture.

Zetterberg has been a key member of the Red Wings' team this season with 16 goals and 44 points so far.

However the Red Wings will be boosted by the news that goaltender Jimmy Howard will return after missing the last three games after having fluid drained from his left knee.

Joakim Andersson could also return after a lower-body injury as the Red Wings look for a key win in their quest for the playoffs this season.
