Liverpool have looked to immediately move on from the disappointment of missing out on Mohamed Salah to Chelsea by launching a bid to sign Yevhen Konoplyanka from Dnipro.
The Ukrainian club are said to be demanding a fee in the region of £15 million for the attacking midfielder, reports the Times.
Liverpool are yet to make any new additions to their squad in the January window. They were in talks with Basel over a deal for Salah, only for Chelsea to swoop and snap up the Egyptian international last week.
The Times claim that Liverpool's owner Fenway Sports Group (FSG), has approved a bid for the 24-year-old, who operates in a wide attacking position from the left, having missed out on Salah.
The Anfield club look well set regardless of whether they can make any additions before the close of the January window following their 4-0 demolition of local rivals Everton last night.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers revealed before the game at Anfield yesterday that he hoped to secure at least one new arrival before Friday.
"Hopefully we can have a major signing before the window shuts,” he said.
“I think we will hopefully do something over the next couple of days. I’ve seen stuff about the manager being angry with the club but nothing could be further from the truth.
“I came here because of the collective effort to try and turn the club’s fortunes around and the owners have been brilliant.
"The people behind the scenes are working very, very hard and we are not always going to get the players we want for a number of reasons.
“The people here are very important to what we are trying to do. If we can get someone in before the window closes we can then set up for the remaining games this season.”
