Rumours that Magic Johnson doesn't think too highly of, or indeed get on with, Kobe Bryant were intensified earlier this week when the NBA legend tweeted his list of great players.
For most, Kobe would be a no-brainer. The 35-year-old is a bonafide NBA and LA Lakers legend, having played with the team since making his debut back in 1996.
However, Johnson – who himself is a Lakers and NBA icon – omitted the shooting guard from his list.
On Tuesday, the 54-year-old tweeted: "The great ones Michael [Jordan], Larry [Bird], Kareem [Abdul-Jabbar], LeBron [James] and now Kevin Durant can put their teams on their back and win!"
Given the Lakers connection, it seems baffling why Johnson left Kobe out. It's not as if he could even use the 'not enough characters' excuse, while to suggest that he simply forgot the superstar would be a little too far-fetched to believe.
But, whatever the reason, it's clear to most that Kobe deserved a shout-out.
