For so long, Iker Casillas was the only man imaginable to wear the number one shirt for Real Madrid.

Not any more, though. His decline in game time began when Jose Mourinho took over, who favoured Diego Lopez over Casillas. The trend has now continued under Carlo Ancelotti and this has left Casillas' place in the national team under threat.

The Spanish production line of goalkeepers is frightening, with the likes of Victor Valdes, David De Gea and Pepe Reina all vying for one place with the two Real Madrid stoppers.

Despite being the victorious captain of both the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 European Championship winning teams, change must happen at some point.

It would be a bold move by head coach Vicente del Bosque so close to a major tournament, but it would be difficult to pick a goalkeeper who is barely playing for his club side - however much he has done for Spain in years gone by.
