The Formula 1 testing recently got under way and quite frankly it didn’t live up to expectations.
The Red Bull racing and McLaren F1 teams didn’t even leave the pits because of all the problems they experienced, most noticeably the fire that broke out in Sebastian Vettel’s Red Bull racer. However what dominated the news headlines was Lewis Hamilton’s crush.
Hamilton stated after the crush the car felt a lot more different than last year’s car, he also said the brakes, the noise and the speed were all different and all this gets me thinking that the rule changes may be ruining the sport in the long run.
Formula 1 should be the pinnacle of motor racing and engineers should be able to do whatever they want. On a personal level I wish we could go back to the days of Nikki Lauda and James Hunt, where if you had the money to make the best car you could make it.
The F.I.A is trying the make F1 a level playing field to make it a proper driver's Championship but with all the new regulations and rule changes, it’s just going to make F1 a very boring sport to watch.
Though the season hasn’t yet started it’s getting closer and closer to the opening race and I really do hope all the teams and their cars are ready because I truly believe this season has the potential to be one of the best season’s all time.
Despite the fact that there stands to be radical changes made, they could be very beneficial for F1 fans eventually.
