Five of the best: Emergency outfield goalkeepers (1)

Published 2 Comments

Crystal Palace moved up to 14th in the Premier League table, following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Hull City at Selhurst Park, on Tuesday night.

The match was notable not just because it gifted Tony Pulis's side another valuable three points in their bid to avoid relegation this season, but also because of Tom Huddlestone's brief cameo between the sticks.

Customary goalkeeper Allan McGregor was sent off in stoppage time by referee Roger East, after a fiery altercation and petulant kick out at Eagles midfielder Stuart O'Keefe.

And, with Steve Bruce having already made all his substitutes, the Tigers boss ordered the 27-year-old to take up position as the last line of defence until the final whistle.

Huddlestone's short keeper cameo was far from eventful in the dying seconds of the game, but it brought back a number of unforgettable memories of fellow Premier League professionals donning the gloves and number one jersey.
