Chelsea starlet Gael Kakuta has returned from his loan in Holland and is looking for a new start away from the club, according to reports.

The 22-year-old joined the Blues back in 2007, but has failed to earn a regular first-team spot during his time with the club and been sent out on loan on four separate occasions.

He’s struggled to make an impact at Fulham, Bolton or Dijon in the past, and again things have failed to work out on this occasion at Vitesse Arnhem.

The Daily Mail reports that he’s now returned to Chelsea with a view to moving elsewhere, and scout Guy Hillion admits it’s a frustrating situation to see such a player wasting his talent.

“It’s a huge waste, because I’ve already said it and I’ll repeat it: he was the most talented one of his generation. He could be exceptional. But talent is not enough,” he told L’Equipe.

“There comes a time, when you accumulate failures, that there are problems at every club you go to, you have to ask yourself the right questions and question yourself.

“Because before Arnhem, there was Bolton, Fulham and Dijon. You can’t manage everything in a player’s career. You can’t manage what is on his mind, his entourage or his family.”

Chelsea did receive a fine from FIFA when they signed Kakuta from Lens, but he’s never managed to meet the hype that surrounded him after making his senior debut during the 2009/10 season.

With 16 total appearances in all competitions for the Blues since moving to Stamford Bridge, it’s hard to see the former France U21 international’s spell in England as anything other than a failure, and if Jose Mourinho can off-load the player permanently this month the end may well be near.
