The enigma that is Kevin Pietersen is one of ten English players to be put forward for the IPL auction. Pietersen, who has not been involved on ODI duty with England, has played for the Delhi Daredevils on multiple occasions in the premier T20 competition.

The right hander, whose contract wasn't renewed with the Daredevils, will be looking to prove himself again on the world stage after England suffered an Ashes humiliation in Australia.

The other Englishmen in contention are Ian Bell, Eoin Morgan, Ravi Bopara, Luke Wright, Craig Kieswetter, Dimi Mascarenhas, Alex Hales, Samit Patel and Jade Dernbach.

Wright, who has made a name for himself with notable performances in the Australian Big Bash, is the most likely to get a contract. While Morgan should, in my opinion, opt out of this year's competition as scoring some meaningful championship runs this summer could catapult him back into the England Test team.

The remainder of the players are unlikely to get contracts, especially Bell and Bopara who are contractually obliged to return to England early to prepare for the ODI series with Sri Lanka. The fact that they won't be able to fulfil a full season's contract puts them in a bad position to try and get a deal.
