Manchester United have been made clear favourites to sign Bayern Munich centre-midfielder Tony Kroos ahead of Premier League rivals Chelsea.

SkyBet put the reigning English champions at 2/1 to bring in the German playmaker, who has been linked with an exit from Bayern in the last few days.

This follows reports that David Moyes may be looking to add to his squad if an ideal opportunity presents itself despite the United manager’s insistence that is was far more likely he would improve his team in the summer.

Kroos has been a mainstay in the Bayern squad up until now but has found his first-team opportunities increasingly diminishing as Pep Guardiola looks to put his stamp on the squad.

Valued at around £25million by Bayern, Moyes would once again have to dig significantly into his transfer kitty if he were to hold any hopes of bringing the 24-year-old to Old Trafford.

Nevertheless the news will likely be met with excited anticipation by the majority of United fans. Having already captured the services of Juan Mata the addition of yet another proven class-act would likely ease all fears that the Red Devils are destined for mid-table mediocrity.
