Florida freshman Chris Walker has been cleared to play for the team after serving a 12 game suspension this season, the Orlando Sentinel reports.
Walker, rated as the number one center in the nation coming out of high school was deemed to have received preferential treatment from a number of sources for free cell phones and service, airfare, lodging, meals and apparel.
Florida coach Billy Donovan is pleased his big man is back.“We’re glad there’s a resolution for everyone involved, especially for Chris, we appreciate everyone’s participation in this process and are ready to move forward.”
Walker has been cleared to play next tuesday in the Gators game against Missouri.
The freshman who was recruited from in-state was a McDonalds All-American and rated as the sixth best player in the freshman class.
Obviously Walker's lack of game time experience will have affected his draft class in addition to the nature of his actions. However should Florida make a run at the national title, Walker will begin to climb NBA draft boards.
