Chelsea are ready to sell Romelu Lukaku in order to fund a summer mega-deal for either Radamel Falcao or Diego Costa, reports The Daily Star.
The English newspaper suggests that the Blues hope to receive approximately £20 million for the powerful Belgian, and are turning towards Falcao again after apparently learning that his summer move to Monaco has turned sour whilst Atletico Madrid frontman Costa is another leading candidate.
A deal for the latter, the Star suggest, could even see Chelsea potentially include Lukaku as a makeweight to land the Brazilian-born marksman who boasts a phenomenal goal tally of 19 goals in 21 La Liga games so far this season.
Chelsea, who have lacked a consistent goalscorer up front this season with the trio of Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Samuel Eto'o only performing well in short bursts, were immensely frustrated last night as a lack of ruthless finishing - coupled with an admirably resolute West Ham rearguard - led to them drawing 0-0 with Sam Allardyce's side at Stamford Bridge.
That result leaves them third in the Premier League table, three points adrift of new leaders Manchester City, with the drab stalemate surely only serving to strengthen claims that Jose Mourinho needs to add another striker to the ranks if they have any real designs on reclaiming the title.
While Chelsea fans are likely to agree that the club are in need of a new striker, however, many will presumably be discontent to see Lukaku leave the club.
After impressing on loan for West Brom under former Chelsea coach Steve Clarke last season, there was some dismay in West London after the former Anderlecht man was allowed to leave on a temporary basis once again - this time to Everton.
Lukaku, who picked up a nasty ankle injury during the Toffees' 4-0 thumping at the hands of Liverpool in the Merseyside derby on Tuesday evening, has been similarly influential at Goodison Park with nine goals in 21 top-flight games this season.
