Arsenal's top transfer target Julian Draxler will be fit to play again by next weekend at the latest after receiving a positive diagnosis in his battle to regain full fitness, according to The Mirror.
Draxler's future has been the source of constant speculation throughout the January transfer window, with Schalke reportedly not prepared to accept anything less than £35m to part with their prized young asset.
The 20-year-old ruptured ankle tendons in a Champions League match in December and was initially expected to be out for three months, failing to recover in time for Schalke's first match since after the winter break against Hamburg last weekend.
Schalke sent the German international to Munich earlier this week for a consultation with Bayern club doctor Hans Muller Wohlfahrt and the check was successful, with Bundesliga giants now anticipating that Draxler will be fit for first-team action within seven days.
That fitness boost may well persuade Arsenal that it's time to make their interest in Draxler concrete with a formal offer, but The Mirror believe that Schalke will only accept an bid which sees them receive the bulk of a £35m package up front before the transfer window closes at 11pm tomorrow night.
