Thiago Alcantara scores stunning stoppage-time bicycle kick

Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara ensured that the Bundesliga leaders remain in complete control and course for a unbeaten campaign last night, with a fantastic scissor-kick strike hurtling towards the net in the third minute of stoppage time.

Thiago's acrobatics denied Stuttgart any points from a pulsating Bundesliga clash which finished 2-1 to the reigning champions, a scoreline which scarcely told the story of a difficult night for Pep Guardiola's men as Bayern extended their unbeaten run to 43 matches.

Stuttgart took the lead after 29 minutes and defended that advantage bravely until the closing stages, but could not hold back the tide as Claudio Pizarro's equaliser was followed by an audacious strike from the ex-Barcelona wonderkid.

Check out a strike that must surely be considered among an early contender for goal of 2014 in the video at the top of the page, or by clicking here.
