Chelsea have opened talks with Croatian club Hajduk Split over a £3m deal for the teenage sensation Mario Pasalic, according to the Daily Mail.
Jose Mourinho has been one of the more active managers in the Premier League this month, bringing in Nemanja Matic and Mohamed Salah whilst also selling Juan Mata to Manchester United.
Now the Special One is looking towards Chelsea's future and has targeted midfielder Pasalic after his impressive displays this season.
The wonderkid has established himself within Split's line-up and has represented Croatia at U16, U17 and U19 level. Thanks to his impressive form, the Croatia national team is being tipped to include the 18-year-old in their World Cup squad.
That has alerted Mourinho to make a move for the player now, knowing just one good performance at the World Cup could see his £3m average sky rocket.
Pasalic has scored six goals in 13 appearances so far this season and could follow Bertrand Traore - another highly promising youngster - to Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window.
Traore, 18, was given a four-and-a-half year deal at Stamford Bridge following several impressive performances while on Chelsea's pre-season tour of Asia.
