In a season that promised much after Andre Villas-Boas assembled a formidable-looking squad with the money made available by Gareth Bale's world-record departure to Real Madrid, things haven't gone according to plan at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham, whose defending against rivals at times this season has been nothing short of catastrophic, sacked the Portuguese after being thrashed by Liverpool and Tim Sherwood is currently attempting to steady the ship.

Brazilian midfielder Paulinho, perhaps the most successful of those aforementioned summer recruits, has picked up four yellow cards and one red.
